What Makes It Work
Mandelic Acid
Mandelic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from bitter almonds, offers numerous benefits for skincare. It is particularly noted for its gentle exfoliating properties, making it suitable for sensitive skin types. By breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells, mandelic acid promotes cell turnover, resulting in smoother, brighter skin. Additionally, it helps to reduce acne by exfoliating the skin and preventing clogged pores. Mandelic acid also possesses anti-bacterial properties, further aiding in the treatment of acne. Its ability to fade hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone makes it an effective ingredient for addressing issues like dark spots and discoloration. It enhances skin texture, clarity, and radiance with minimal irritation.
Lactic Acid
It is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from milk, known for its gentle yet effective exfoliating properties. It works by dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more easily and revealing a fresher, more radiant complexion. In addition to exfoliation, lactic acid has moisturizing benefits as it helps the skin retain water, making it ideal for dry or sensitive skin types. Regular use of lactic acid can improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promote a more even skin tone. It can also help with mild hyperpigmentation and improve overall skin clarity.
Salicylic Acid
It is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) which is highly valued in skincare for its powerful acne-fighting properties. Its primary benefit lies in its ability to exfoliate the skin and penetrate deep into the pores, where it dissolves excess oil and dead skin cells that can lead to blockages and breakouts. By keeping pores clear, salicylic acid helps to prevent and reduce the appearance of blackheads and whiteheads, common forms of acne. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated skin and reduce the redness and swelling associated with acne lesions.
Propylene Glycol
It acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin to maintain hydration, and it also enhances the absorption of other active ingredients, ensuring they penetrate deeper for better efficacy.
Turmeric Extract
Turmeric extract is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for brightening the skin and reducing hyperpigmentation. It helps to even out skin tone and promote a radiant complexion, while also providing protection against environmental damage.
Allantoin
Allantoin is a soothing and moisturizing ingredient that helps to improve skin texture and promote cell regeneration. It encourages the shedding of dead skin cells, revealing fresh, glowing skin underneath. Allantoin also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for calming irritated skin and reducing redness, further enhancing skin brightness and radiance.
Licorice Root Powder
Licorice root powder contains glabridin and other active compounds that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It helps brighten the skin, reduce hyperpigmentation, and protect against environmental damage. Its soothing properties can also reduce irritation, which can be beneficial for maintaining a youthful appearance.

HOW TO DO A PATCH TEST
Performing a patch test is a crucial step when introducing a new skincare product to your routine, as it can help you to determine whether the product/s is safe for your skin and whether you may have an adverse reaction to it. Here are the steps for performing a patch test:
- Choose a small area of skin on your inner forearm or behind your ear that is easily accessible and not visible.
- Apply a small amount of the product to the area and spread it evenly. You can use a cotton swab or your finger to do this.
- Wait for at least 24-48 hours and observe the area for any signs of redness, itching, swelling, or irritation.
- If you do not experience any adverse reactions after 24-48 hours, it is likely safe to use the product on your face.
