Deep Cleanse
You need to cleanse your skin in the morning and evening in the summer to keep it looking young and free of blemishes.
Use warm water and a cleanser to wash your face and neck. Choose a cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. Cleansers come in the form of a gel, foam, milk and powder etc. Apply a toner next, which will regulate your skin’s pH, minimise the appearance of pores, restore your skin’s natural layer of protection, and also assist remove dirt, pollution, and makeup residue.
You should also exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells that clog pores, refresh the skin’s outermost layers, and oxygenate and rejuvenate your skin. This will improve your skin’s appearance and allow other skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin. There are several types of exfoliants based on your skin type and its requirements.
Apply Serum
Next up apply a serum. Serums have a higher concentration of active ingredients than moisturisers. It absorbs easily into the skin. Serums should ideally be used in the morning and night. Choose one that addresses your skin concerns. Take a small amount of serum in the palm of your hand, or apply directly onto your face. Gently spread over the skin and pat into skin.
Don’t forget the undereye area
Although the skin around the eyes is more prone to the signs of ageing, sometimes the eye contour area is overlooked. The eye area is also where the first lines of expression and deep wrinkles can start to emerge. It is finer, dryer, and more fragile.
You do not have to use a separate eye cream under your eyes but you can if you want to address specific under eye concerns such as bags or dark circles. Apply eye cream with your middle finger. Tap gently around the under eye area. Do not use it too close to your eyes.
Moisturiser
Next apply your moisturiser to the face. Your skin’s needs (impurities, hydration, firmness, anti-wrinkles, etc.) will determine what moisturiser you choose. It is crucial to use it every day, morning and night, as it will protect the skin from external agents, keep it hydrated, flexible, and juicy. Apply your cream using gentle circular motions. Depending on your skin’s requirements, it is advised to use different creams day and night. For the daytime, choose a cream which will protect your skin and at night use a cream with repairing ingredients that will stimulate the skin’s metabolism and cell regeneration.
Sunscreen
It is crucial to take care of our skin and protect it, especially from UVA and UVB rays, which are much stronger in the summer than they are in the winter due to the sun’s proximity to the earth at this time. The ozone layer is becoming increasingly damaged, and there are strong ultraviolet radiation filtrations.
Apply sunscreen after moisturiser in the morning and reapply sunscreen every two to three hours.
Use sunscreen with an SPF 50 or higher. When outdoors in summer wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses to protect your under eye area. You must also use sunscreen on your body and wear clothing to protect your skin. There is no need to use sunscreen at night.
