Tough Pigmentation and Melasma Combo

Original price was: R1894,00.Current price is: R1650,00.

Drawing on 20 years of investigative experience in the industry, this system is formulated to address the specific biological triggers of Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin types (skin of colour or darker skin tones).

This 6-product protocol moves beyond simple brightening; it addresses the “pigment loop” by inhibiting melanin production, breaking down existing melanin, and accelerating turnover without the inflammatory heat response that typically causes rebound darkening in darker skin profiles.

Description

This Tough Pigmentation and Melasma Combo is formulated for Fitzpatrick IV-VI skin types (skin of color or darker skin types) . In my experience, standard brightening products often fail because they don’t account for the heat-sensitivity of South African skin. This combo regulates the pigment cycle while maintaining barrier health.

Clinical Ingredient Synergy

  • Night Serum: Formulated with Retinyl Palmitate and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate to speed up cell turnover.

  • Day Serum: Uses Niacinamide and Licorice Root to create an anti-inflammatory shield against daily triggers.

  • Melasma Serum: Contains Tranexamic Acid and Kojic Dipalmitate to target hormonal pigment at the source.

  • Barrier Repair: Includes Ceramide NP and Squalane to prevent the peeling that leads to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Know Your Skin

Successful treatment requires understanding your skin’s response. If your melasma appears to be darkening, it is often a sign of heat or barrier stress rather than product failure. Read our educational guide: Why is my Melasma getting darker? to learn how to adjust your routine exactly as your skin responds.

Benefits of Tough Pigmentation and Melasma Combo

Reduces Tough Pigmentation & Melasma: Targets dark patches and uneven skin tone, lightening melasma for a more uniform complexion.

Brightens Skin: Enhances overall skin radiance and glow, giving a brighter and more youthful appearance.

Evens Skin Tone: Balances skin tone by minimizing discoloration and promoting a consistent look across the face.

Exfoliates Gently: Removes dead skin cells to reveal fresher, clearer skin and allows better absorption of active ingredients.

Hydrates Deeply: Keeps skin moisturized and plump, improving texture and reducing the appearance of fine lines.

The Pigment-Correction Synergy

In my experience with South African skin types (Fitzpatrick IV–VI), the most common error is using high-strength actives without addressing the biological "pigment loop". This system uses a multi-pathway approach:

  • Phase 1: Tyrosinase Inhibition (Stopping the Source) According to clinical studies on Tranexamic Acid and Kojic Dipalmitate, these actives block the enzyme responsible for melanin production. We combine these with Alpha Arbutin and Licorice Root Extract to create a stable, non-irritating alternative to hydroquinone.

  • Phase 2: Cellular Turnover & Surface Correction To lift existing dark patches, we utilize Granactive Retinol and Retinyl Palmitate. These speed up the shedding of pigmented cells. Note: The contraindications for this formula include pregnancy due to these Vitamin A derivatives.

  • Phase 3: Antioxidant Shield & Barrier Support To prevent "rebound darkening," we include stable Vitamin C via Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. This is balanced by Niacinamide and Turmeric Extract to calm the inflammatory heat response that often triggers melasma in darker skin profiles.

SKIN TYPES

All skin types except extremely dry and overly sensitive skin. However, you should always carry out a patch test before applying a new product.

Performing a patch test is a crucial step when introducing a new skincare product to your routine, as it can help you to determine whether the product is safe for your skin and whether you may have an adverse reaction to it. Here are the steps for performing a patch test:

  1. Choose a small area of skin on your inner forearm or behind your ear that is easily accessible and not visible.
  2. Apply a small amount of the product to the area and spread it evenly.
  3. Wait for at least 24-48 hours and observe the area for any signs of redness, itching, swelling, or irritation. If you have a reaction, remove the product immediately and rinse the area with cool water.
  4. If you do not experience any adverse reactions after 24-48 hours, it is likely safe to use the product on your face.
