Microneedling Pigmentation Serum

Microneedling creates thousands of temporary microchannels in the skin. While our Hydrating Glide Serum focuses on hydration and comfortable needle slip, the Microneedling Pigmentation Serum was created for people whose main treatment goal is pigmentation.

The formula combines 4% Tranexamic Acid — a pigmentation-targeting active that has been clinically studied alongside microneedling — with Hyaluronic Acid to provide hydration and smooth glide throughout treatment.

The Microneedling Pigmentation Serum is a lightweight, water-based serum developed specifically for pigmentation-focused microneedling protocols. Unlike ordinary multi-active pigmentation serums, we've deliberately kept this formula focused.

That's intentional. When the skin barrier is temporarily disrupted during microneedling, this isn't the time for a cocktail of retinoids, exfoliating acids, fragrance, essential oils and numerous botanical extracts. The result is a streamlined formula built around one targeted pigmentation active with direct microneedling research behind it.

Tranexamic acid isn't simply a popular brightening ingredient we've added to a microneedling serum. It is one of the pigmentation-targeting ingredients that has been specifically studied in combination with microneedling for melasma.

A review of 16 clinical trials published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found significant reductions in melasma severity scores from baseline when topical tranexamic acid was combined with microneedling. The researchers also noted considerable variation between the studies and said more well-designed research is needed.

A separate review of 12 clinical trials examining tranexamic acid and microneedling concluded that combining the two improved melasma lesions, while a newer 2025 analysis of the available clinical evidence found that microneedling with TXA performed significantly better than microneedling alone, although it was not significantly better than other melasma treatments overall.

Importantly, 4% topical Tranexamic Acid has itself been studied with microneedling. In a randomised clinical trial involving 70 participants, researchers compared monthly microneedling with topical 4% TXA against nightly 4% hydroquinone. Both groups experienced significant reductions in melasma severity, with no statistically significant difference between the treatments.

During a microneedling treatment

• Cleanse and thoroughly prepare the treatment area and device according to your microneedling protocol.
• Work on one small section of the face at a time.
• Apply enough Microneedling Pigmentation Serum to provide adequate slip.
• Glide the microneedling device over the serum-covered treatment area without allowing the skin to become dry.
• Reapply when necessary to maintain smooth movement and avoid dragging the device over dry skin.
• After treatment, follow with our Ceramide Barrier Support Cream to support hydration and the skin barrier.

Avoid combining it during the same treatment with retinoids, exfoliating acids, strong vitamin C products, essential oils, fragranced products or other aggressive actives.

Do not microneedle over active acne, infection, open wounds, active dermatitis, eczema or cold sores.

4% Tranexamic Acid

A targeted pigmentation active used to help improve the appearance of melasma and uneven pigmentation. The concentration isn't arbitrary — 4% topical TXA has been investigated specifically alongside microneedling. A randomised clinical trial of microneedling with topical 4% Tranexamic Acid reported a significant reduction in participants' mean Melasma Area and Severity Index (MASI) scores over the treatment period, and another randomised study also reported a significant reduction in melasma severity over an eight-week period.

Hyaluronic Acid

A powerful humectant that attracts and holds water, helping maintain hydration while providing the smooth slip needed during microneedling.
